XBOX 360 Modification Service
Some Frequently Asked Questions
What about the warranty of the XBOX?
As we have to open your XBOX 360 you will void your warranty as we have to remove the DVD Drive from the unit
Will updating the firmware of the drive in any way cause other problems with the console?
As we are only electronically replacing the information stored on the DVD Drive controller it will not in any way cause any issues with any other part of the console.
Is it legal to update the firmware of an XBOX 360 Drive to play Backups?
You are legally entitled to make one backup copy of any media or games disk that you buy from a shop. To play this legal copy of your backup you require a mod chip or firmware update.
What is Ixtreme?
iXtreme 1.6 Firmware is for flashing the Xbox 360 DVD Drive. The purpose of flashing the drive is to allow Backups to be played.
What are backups you might ask?
Backups are a duplicate copy of a Xbox 360 game. They are burned on Dual Layer DVD's, which requires the use of a Dual Layer Burner as well.
Stealth Backups?
With the latest iXtreme Firmware, currently version 1.6 for the LiteOn, BenQ and Samsung drives, all backups are required to be stealth. However, there is the option to bypass the security scan, with the use of Activate.iso, which is included with iXtreme 1.6 Firmware. Stealth Firmware in short, tricks the console into thinking the game is a real official copy, and thus, will allow you to play the game. Now there are risks involved when flashing your drive.
Will I be able to Play on XBOX Live? What are the risks?
We have not heard of anyone being banned from XBOX Live but there’s always the possibility of getting banned. The current release of iXtreme 1.6, it makes it much harder to get caught online. However Playing backups that you've received before they are released is a way in getting banned. If you play a game that is not stealth, and go on live, is another way ofgetting Banned
